The Immortal Lover

Prologue

“All gods who receive homage are cruel. All gods dispense suffering without reason. Otherwise they would not be worshipped. Through indiscriminate suffering men know fear and fear is the most divine emotion. It is the stones for altars and the beginning of wisdom. Half gods are worshipped in wine and flowers. Real gods require blood.”

― Zora Neale Hurston, Their Eyes Were Watching God

Down through the ages of human history his name has been heard and often feared. He’s known by many names; king of hell, demon, destroyer, all which is that wrong with the world. But many have known him in a different light. A tender light, a side of him rarely shown. He’s the epic lover that legends are made from. Many believe he may have been Casanova, himself. Some say he’s actually Eros. But a few have known for sure and lived to tell the story. His heavenly name is Azazael. His fallen name is Azazel.

This incredible handsome man with flawless teakwood skin accented by a magnificent mane of versicolored, flowing hair is like none other. His capability to enhance a woman, mortal or immortal, is what has made him a legend before the creation of our world. It’s said his gemstone-like azure eyes are totally mesmerizing. Do not glance into them for too long or your soul and body will become all his.

To their dismay many have loved him. He takes love but rarely sincerely gives it. His hands and lips are sweltering hot but his heart is cold. His heart is unable to be captured for it belongs to another. One he has sought since he lost her. Knowing the legend of his long love many believed they were she only to be disappointed. Down through the ages many have paid a tragic price for daring to fall in love with him. After all, he once ruled hell with an iron fist so it has been proven he has a heart as hard as stone.

He has existed in every society as either an Emperor, Ruler, Chief, King, prince, warrior, Duke, Marquis, Earl, Count, Viscount, Baron but most often as god. He felt he didn’t allow heaven to tell him what to do so he most definitely wasn’t taking orders from creatures beneath him.

During his many years of absence many have worn the name. Committed horrendous deeds in the name of it. These actions have led many worlds to believe there are many different heavenly princes by this dreadful name. But all who know the truth knows there’s only one Azazael.

She took classes in creative writing in college, specializing in ancient myths and legends. and later at a local community center while living in Chicago. In college she won the national contest to verbally list every country in the world, it's capital and ingenious language. Her works are mainly horror, fantasy, extreme, and sci-fi as well as, as some may says, "the truly strange predicament and puzzling." Books that I've written are "Clash with the Immortals, and eleven others which are part of the "Unholy Pursuit saga,". She has been working on the Chronicles since 2007. She wished to complete them all before introducing them to public so the readers wouldn't have to for the continuation to be written. The ideas of the book come from classic literature such as whose work greatly influence the world world such as Homer, Sophocles, Herodotus, Euripides, Socrates, Hippocrates, Aristophanes, Plato, Aristotle and many more. The "Book of Enoch" influenced the usage of Azazael as a main character and love interest. I created the primary main character from the Chronicle of Saints. I wanted to show them as real flesh and blood with thoughts, desires and yearning as any human. Not as they are so often depicted. So I created one of my own to show her as a real human that everyone can relate to.

Everyone, I just finished reading “The Immortal Lover” this weekend. I couldn’t wait for the paper back book. After reading UnHoly Pursuit: The devil on my trail. I was anxious to see where this new book would pick up or foretell.

It reminded me a little of something M. Night Shyamalan might produce. That’s the best I can describe the supernatural aspects of the stories about Azazel being a legendary lover. And then again no, it doesn’t, not really. Azazel is very clear in his intentions. M. Night Shyamalan movies are not always clear as to which way they are going.

I know, I know, usually with big books it’s always best to read the hard or paperback book because sometimes the ebook can not be produced at the full length of a big novel.

I have to say this book is as riveting as you come to expect from this author. I won’t give you any hints but it’s hot and it’s bad. Some parts are down right queasy especially the account of his judgement and his imprisonment. Only love would make you touch someone with all that crap growing out of them.

It takes you on a wild emotional, romantic roller coaster, in one time period Azazel is acting like a noble gentleman but he can switch so quickly and start acting like an a$$ again making you want to kick his butt. He can be so loving one moment and a pure rat bastard the next.

It’s a beautiful love story when he is dealing with someone he loves like Ana but otherwise he is an a$$hole. If a guy tells you he is in love with another woman. That’s the time to split. Not try to win his love.

Why don’t these brain dead women stay the devil away from him? Well, he’s one guy who promises the moon and actually delivers it.

I loved how each time period consisted of a different story but in some cases I think he needs to dump Ana. I love her but her demands of him are sometime ridiculous. I mean when she travels back in time before she is even born and find him with someone then she makes him dump that person. Of course he doesn’t have to do it just because she pitch a fit. She will be gone back to her time by morning.

I finished the story some days ago, but I’m just now getting around to writing a review. I must say the “Unholy Pursuit Series,” has become my favorite series. I was waiting for the second book to decide if I would commit to following the entire series. Too many times, I’ve started following a series off of other people’s recommendations only to be disappointed as it wears on. Some are far too short.

Something, I really hate is when an author changes the original outline to pull in characters that do not fit in the series. So if you are thinking about it, please don’t do that to this series. It’s great the way it is going. You can’t write to please the whole world or whatever characters are popular at the time. You have your own unique style so please stick to it.

I saw the post come through about the possibilities of adding fairies to the series. For the love god, please don’t. How would you work fairies into dealing with immortal people as rogue and ruthless as the immortals? Being cute and pixie doesn’t fascinate them.

I like how The Immortal Lover is totally different from the first book but is equally as good. Even with the crisscrossing across timelines you don’t get lost because the author makes it all flow smoothly together. The author gives a full imaginary image of each character so you know who they are if you encounter them later in the story.

There’s a touch of old-fashioned romanticism in the stories without they being overly saturated with it. Ana demands his respect and gets it. If he disrespects her he knows she is gone. The way Ana react is how real women react to disrespect. They don’t say it is ok. I can’t say I know what is wrong with the women who keeps trying to win his love. But this is a fact of life. Some women do go for guys already enamored with someone else. I can understand the ones who are there for him to protect them. That was a custom in many societies and still exist today. I won’t judge for I have never walked in those women shoes. But if I had a choice of living with him in a palace, living like royalty with all my needs being taken care of to living in a rigid strict over zealot religious village where I might get stoned to death because I won’t conform. Then I too would accept what he’s offering.

It’s a love story but not like most love stories on the market today. I’m so glad someone pulled away from the predictability love story format. Boy met girl, boy act an ass, girl cry, boy say he’s sorry, girl say ok, boy act an ass again, then something tragic happens before boy realize he loves girl and then they live happily ever after. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with these stories I have bought and read many of them but it is refreshing to see a story written from a different standpoint or perspective. With these two you never know which ways things are going to go or will Azazel do something stupid and get himself locked up again?

This was written from the standpoint of mature people. The point of view of two people who knows what they want and is determined to get it.

I love it that it is sexy without being overly erotica. It leaves a lot to the imagination. I think it is very sexy how they flirt with each other and how they tease each other.

    Like this below:

“Well, if your guns don’t kill someone__your mouth most definitely will.” He wisecracked and burst out laughing.

Ana was speechless. She didn’t see anything remotely funny.

People… this man just said someone he loved are dead and he’s laughing? His laughter subsided a bit, “Sorry for laughing but you look like a little angry bird over there.”

This is the kind of things real couples say. I laughed for a few minutes at this one. There are several episodes like this throughout the book.

Some might say he needs to stop throwing everything to the wind whenever she shows up. But the destruction in his life is not her fault. He knows he has these families or whatever and he still goes to her every time she calls him or steps back into time to him. So, it’s his fault. He hides these things from her. When she walks back into time. All she sees is him. She doesn’t see his life in that age as it really is. He hides all that from her. He can sense her coming and jump up and hide things. She only has a few hours to be with him so he keeps his life in that age hidden. The author doesn’t say what happens after she leaves in many of the 33 separate stories from different eras of his life. But in some he gets depressed and become destructive.

The author does tell how he became as we know him. That he was once a very nice guy. Someone too nice for their own good and people kept taking advantage of it so he turned into a monster and been one ever since.

Don’t give out copies of your books unless they are at a reputable site like GoodReads. I am not saying you do but what I saw I truly believe they thought the information was buried so deep on the search engines no one would find them. And when you give away copies know who they are going to. Some people get them and resell them. They never read them. I am not saying this is the case with you. I don’t know.

    • All of my giveaways we try to know who is getting the work. As you can see the ones from GoodReads are listed on the site. Yes,I have heard about the resales. I guess that is one of the downsfalls in being an author.

I know i said this before but your writings are excellent so you and your publishers need to check the web daily for pirates. No one hijack terrible books. You know you have great book if some one pirated it. They don’t bother with books that aren’t good and won’t sell. I was reading about the things you went through some time ago and it is too hard on any one for people to be stealing from them. I knew the book was good when someone kept messing with it trying to say it belonged to someone else. I hope you read the best seller’s list out of revenges for their stealing your book.

    • Unfortunately my name is the same as the woman you mentioned but I think the name issue has been resolved. I have heard of other authors speaking of piracy but I will admit I was expecting to experience it with the very first book. Again, thanks for letting me know. I am often not online for although the books are written I still have to put them together and present them to the publishers.

I just finished the Immortal Lover, to me it’s a mixture of old fashion romance with a modern day twist.  I love the way the couple loves each other. The tenderness between them is so romantic. People. These books are worth the read if you are looking for something different than the run of the mill book. I have three of Alma’s books and although they are related they all stands alone.14.01.2017, 21:17, “The Novel: UnHoly Pursuit: Devil on my Trail” <comment-reply@wordpress.com>:

I loved the chapter called The Making of Casanova. I have to say it was a fun and hilarious read. Please keep your work the way it is going. Whoa! Napoleon didn’t seemed to realize the dying Casanova was insulting him. I can’t repeat what he said but it’s ROTF funny regarding what Casanova said about men who make war and not love.

LOL! This author really is a modern day Virginia Wolf.
