I’m learning that turning non-readers into readers an author can find a loyal base of fans.
I am also learning there are many who are non-readers that can be turned into regular readers if you can get your work before them. These aren’t the people you will find on Goodreads and other platforms for readers. They aren’t the ones who will sign up to receive emails. But they are out there. Places you wouldn’t guess; like public places like parks, laundromats, coffee cafe, etc.
I find that if you introduce them to a genre they likes, they usually enjoys it. I have learned it’s harder to get people to detour from their favorite genre than to introduce new readers to your work. Most non readers do not have a preset mind frame. If they like it, they’ll read it. If not, then they won’t. They are most likely to judge your work on your individual merit not on someone else as avid readers are. What comes to a lot of people’s minds when you said “non-reader” is a person who never picks up a book or haven’t read one in five or ten years. That’s not what I mean. Maybe I should say the causal readers. They reads perhaps one or two books a years. Now, they aren’t easy to persuade. Most are very picky and particular as to what will be there their one book (s) for the year. But I learned hey are less likely to have a favorite author and won’t read work by anyone. So the next time you strike up a conversation with a stranger tell them about your work. You might be surprised. They may like it.
Thanks everyone for their visit. 🙂 Come again soon.

Very intriguing. You succeeded where others have failed. You forced me to read. LOL!
I’m one of the people mentioned here. I read but just grew tired of the same story again and again.
