I’ve always believed we have to believe in ourselves before anyone else can believe in us. If you don’t believe in yourself, then who will? When all the negativity is drowning out the positive we have to learn to shut it and still believe in our dreams regardless of how terrible or unrealistic others may tell you they are. No one ever accomplished anything listening to naysayers.
Congratulates yourself on your achievements. It is healthy and good for you. It boosts your morale. Rev your engines. This isn’t bragging. You’ve worked hard to complete that literary work so congratulate yourself.
I wrote this because I see so much discouraging of authors and writers. You guys don’t get nearly the encouragement you deserve. Everywhere I look someone got advice as what you ‘should” be doing. Few writers go this far as the Major-General in “The Pirates of Penzance.” But I still say you toast yourself. Waiting for someone else to do it. It may never happen. Your esteem and worth isn’t hinged on the opinion of others. It could be hinged solely on your opinion of yourself.
Now, this is bragging.
The Pirates of Penzance
I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I’ve information, vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I’m very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,
About binomial theorem I’m teeming with a lot o’ news,
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.
