It’s obvious from her intense desire to help others she was an empath. It seems she never learn to control this aspect of herself . It has been recorded of empaths going to this extreme in their quest to end the suffering of others. She became after death one of the most forward thinkers of the 20th century
Simone Weil (3 February 1909 – 24 August 1943) was a French social and religious philosopher, widely admired as a Christian mystic. Politically active, she took part in the Spanish Civil War and the French Resistance. She was the sister of mathematician André Weil, with whom she shared an interest in ancient Greek and Indian thought.
