I know a woman who is in constant pain; she suffered a broken back, hip, rib, arm and leg, suffers severe allergies and asthma, partial deaf, has a speech impairment, suffers pain in her feet and leg, and numerous other ailment. She lives on a limited income. She has little next to no furniture, and drive an old car. But by all definitions of today’s idea of happiness she should be one of the most depressed people in the world.
But the most amazing thing about her is she has the most uplifting personality I ever met. She’s sweet and has the kindness heart you will ever meet. I feel blessed to know her.
When you talk to her she doesn’t ever mention how she feels or if she’s even sick that day. One day I asked why she doesn’t talk about her ailments. It’s no stigma to speak of them any more as it was years ago.
She replied, “When you’re in pain all the time the last thing you want to do is constantly talk about it. Reminding yourself just how much it hurts. It does no good. It doesn’t make things better. All it does is depress you. I find that I can utilize that time I spend talking about pains and ailments to talk about something to take my mind off my suffering.”
Happy Thanksgiving, many don’t know just how much they have to be thankful for.

A. White, an award winning former librarian, who is also a long time member of Romantic Time and Publisher's Weekly. A. White has been writing for over fifteen years. She took classes in creative writing in college, specializing in ancient myths and legends. and later at a local community center while living in Chicago. In college she won the national contest to verbally list every country in the world, it's capital and ingenious language. Her works are mainly horror, fantasy, extreme, and sci-fi as well as, as some may says, "the truly strange predicament and puzzling." Books that I've written are "Clash with the Immortals, and eleven others which are part of the "Unholy Pursuit saga,". She has been working on the Chronicles since 2007. She wished to complete them all before introducing them to public so the readers wouldn't have to for the continuation to be written.
The ideas of the book come from classic literature such as whose work greatly influence the world world such as Homer, Sophocles, Herodotus, Euripides, Socrates, Hippocrates, Aristophanes, Plato, Aristotle and many more. The "Book of Enoch" influenced the usage of Azazael as a main character and love interest. I created the primary main character from the Chronicle of Saints. I wanted to show them as real flesh and blood with thoughts, desires and yearning as any human. Not as they are so often depicted. So I created one of my own to show her as a real human that everyone can relate to.

I’m going to share this because this lady’s outlook on life is absolutely the one to have. Nobody wants to hear someone complaining all the time. I came to the conclusion long ago that we keep more friends by not complaining, than complaining about our lot in a dull whine day in and day out!

LOL! That’s the same thing she says.
That’s true, but friends and family members want to know if one isn’t feeling well.

No, she doesn’t want pity. She told me she wanted sympathy and understanding of her limitations but not pity.

My gosh, I can barely move when I have a headache. I think you need to ask your friend to talk about her illness more often. Many disabled people don’t talk because people are always saying there’s nothing wrong with them. Many places it isn’t safe to let anyone know of your disabilities.

Hi Delia, thanks for dropping by. Well, when your head hurt seems as thus everywhere hurts. Chronic pain makes life less enjoyable that’s for sure.

A., are you sure this person isn’t being abused, attacked and a crime isn’t being committed against them and they are afraid to talk about it or tell anyone? I am not saying you are making this up but for one person to suffer so many broken bones….there is something that is not right. The reason I asked is that there are sick, sadistic people out there who abuse, hurt and even kills the deaf, the blind, and the mental challenge people. The Feds have made this a hate crime and it is now prosecuted on a federal level.

Alisha, I’m not sure. The thought accorded in my mind too when I first met her but she say they comes from many different ‘accidents’ that I’m not sure if they really were accidents. I try and wait until a person is willing or wants to talk. Yes, I know it is a hate crime to injury or attack a disabled person. Society still hoarders a lot of medieval ideas about the disabled.

A., something isn’t right about your friend. I understand maintaining the upbeat personality to deal with chronic pain but sounds to me as if she doesn’t want to talk about something. I think you need to probe her and learn why she doesn’t have furniture and what happened to it? There are dogs out there, I mean the two legged, human dogs who victimize people like her. Take their money, clothing, furniture or just about anything they can find to take. I’m not saying that’s what happening to her but sounds as if it is.

I will do my best to keep an eye on her. She said she lost everything when she was hospitalized and unable to pay the mortgage.

Alisha, that’s true. There are people who will harm the sick and disabled because they believe them to be easy targets.

That’s terrible. My heart goes out to her. I’m keeping her in my prayers. Gee, that’s an awful lot for one person to endure.

Yes, I agree. It is humongous amount for one person to endure.

But I agree with Alisha, it sounds like some terrible is going on with this woman. I don’t know who you report such crimes to but there are definitely crimes being committed against her. No one suffers these many ailments without someone creating them.
Hospitalization doesn’t cause lost of home and furniture. Someone deliberately took them from her.Whomever they are who hurt her I hope they burn in hell.

I am not sure. To be honest, I really don’t see how she has suffered so many ‘accidents’. She said the accidents happened at different stages in her life. They all didn’t occur at once. But the thing about injuries is that no matter how well a doctor put them back together, some still pains the person afterward. Before the national health care was instilled if a major illness occurred and one didn’t have insurance that covered everything it was easy to lose everything for one treatment can cost more than your home is worth.

wow! I would love her strength. I mentioned her today at church and the pastor said she has the gift of endurance. Only saints have it. He believes all those alleged accidents are the devil’s people trying to break her. He also said those harm such a person comes to terrible ends. He said this serious spiritual warfare. I don’t know. I’m simply repeating what he said.

Thank you Denise. 🙂 Yes, I have heard this before. He’s probably right about the saint part. I can’t speak for the calamity befalling enemies part but she is a very nice person. I wouldn’t hang with her if she wasn’t. I can’t stand rude, snarky people.

Someone asked me how does this person deals with all this. I really don’t know.
However when someone say they find something to be thankful for It doesn’t mean they aren’t suffering because they are. It means they find something to be thankful for despite their suffering. It can mean they maybe thankful for the simple things in life that others overlook. They may see something like a lovely flower and be thankful it exist to appreciate it’s beauty. It may be a pleasant day outside and they may be thankful for it.
One thing she has and that is a very strong belief in God and I think that carries her through a lot.

Thanks for your useful post. Through the years, I have come to understand that the symptoms of mesothelioma cancer are caused by a build up connected fluid relating to the lining in the lung and the upper body cavity. The condition may start inside chest spot and multiply to other limbs. Other symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include fat loss, severe breathing in trouble, fever, difficulty swallowing, and swelling of the face and neck areas. It needs to be noted that some people with the disease do not experience every serious indicators at all. Anyway, I’m glad you mentioned the fact there are people who are very ill out here but do their best to put on a happy face.

With that said and out of the way. I think people know what a person means when they say those things. I know there are always someone somewhere trying to get out of paying someone what they are due and will play dumb or pretend they don’t understand.

Yes, I know people understand what a person is saying but pretend they do not understand that a person is suffering. Keeping up a pretense means you don’t have to address the problem. 😕

Thanks a lot for the helpful content. I know what it is like to suffer a long time. It is also my belief that mesothelioma has an very long latency period of time, which means that the signs of the disease won’t emerge until finally 30 to 50 years after the 1st exposure to mesothelioma. Pleural mesothelioma, which is the most common kind and affects the area about the lungs, could potentially cause shortness of breath, chest pains, plus a persistent coughing, which may lead to coughing up mucus.
