I’m pointing book out this out because I write romance novels and to write them I feel you need to understand where the modern perception of them came from.
The format for modern day romance, writing and incorporating into one’s life started in the 1700’s not during the Victorian Age as so many have been led to believe. Prior, the 1700’s romance wasn’t a big part of life, love, nor marriage. Everyone, rich or poor was expected to be an adult about things and do and marry as a duty to your society and if love was later developed then you were blessed, but if not, then ho-hum, you simply dealt with the lot life dealt you.
For openly stating, doing, and doing religiously otherwise, Casanova made his own life hard for openly breaking the rules of the day and not giving a damn. Giacomo was often sought after for duels, many death threats were made against him. He was arrest by the church and they sought a religious execution but the man was so silver-tongued that even his persecutors listened and fell in love with him.
This is a gift, an ability called the gift of passion. It’s believed many famous lovers down through the ages possessed it.
