This is a reblog that goes much deeper into the subject than my own post. I thought the author made a lot of vital points.
I think the answer to this question depends upon where one lives and the resources of the church in question.
In many places, cities, and towns across America and the world, the churches are the only places that are actually doing anything about the homeless crisis.
I once worked with a religious group who would go out on freezing nights to find the homeless sleeping in woods and such because a person can freeze to death in their sleep. Some wouldn’t go to the local shelters so we had no other choice except take them to a cheap motel. And on scorching days we delivered portable fans and water.
Working on a homeless task isn’t an easy job but someone has to do it.
