Agreeing with everyone all the time is not “indivisible” means.
I’ve learned throughout life to get to the heart of the truth…you may have to offend some people. The process isn’t always pleasant.
Too many people are dying because some think some issues are unpleasant.
If you a mature adult it is not hard to listen to reason. But if you never been forced into maturity due to whatever reason(s) then it’s hard to listen to any views except your own. You respond with volatility to all ideas or suggestions that do not meet your selected criteria.
Listening or considering doesn’t mean you have to agree. But just because someone doesn’t agree with you do not give you the right to become violent.
A. White, an award winning former librarian, who is also a long time member of Romantic Time and Publisher's Weekly. A. White has been writing for over fifteen years. She took classes in creative writing in college, specializing in ancient myths and legends. and later at a local community center while living in Chicago. In college she won the national contest to verbally list every country in the world, it's capital and ingenious language. Her works are mainly horror, fantasy, extreme, and sci-fi as well as, as some may says, "the truly strange predicament and puzzling." Books that I've written are "Clash with the Immortals, and eleven others which are part of the "Unholy Pursuit saga,". She has been working on the Chronicles since 2007. She wished to complete them all before introducing them to public so the readers wouldn't have to for the continuation to be written.
The ideas of the book come from classic literature such as whose work greatly influence the world world such as Homer, Sophocles, Herodotus, Euripides, Socrates, Hippocrates, Aristophanes, Plato, Aristotle and many more. The "Book of Enoch" influenced the usage of Azazael as a main character and love interest. I created the primary main character from the Chronicle of Saints. I wanted to show them as real flesh and blood with thoughts, desires and yearning as any human. Not as they are so often depicted. So I created one of my own to show her as a real human that everyone can relate to.
The thought came to mind when I long ago noticed no one respects individualism anymore. That’s what makes us all unique and special in our own way. I don’t think it’s healthy for everyone to be expected to be exactly alike. It reminds me of an old Twilight Zone Episode.
Yes, we seem to have lost a lot of the tolerance that we keep shouting about in trying to coral folk into the herd mentality. Ha, it’s Group Speak after a fashion 😦
I think we have no tolerance for anything unlike ourselves. Corralling people is never a good thing. It all sounds a lot like Orwell’s Newspeak.
I hadn’t thought of it being called Group Speak.
As a little girl in the 80’s I can remember hearing my mother sing Helena Reddy’s. “I Am WOMAN” Helen Reddy, whose Grammy-winning ’70s hit “I Am Woman” became an anthem for the feminist movement, passed away at the age of 78.
When the conservative movement took over again in the late 80’s individualism died.
Great post!
