A reader turned my attention to this case in Calgary and asked me to sign the petition that justice be brought to this tragedy because I write about these kinds of things. My stories are fictional but sadly this is real life.
15 year old Abeg Kon was bullied to death. Bullied unto the point of taking her life.
On Sunday, Sept 5th, 2020, Anjelo, Bernadeta and their two children lost their beloved daughter and sister, Abeg Kon, to suicide, “No one in our family realized that behind Abeg’s big smile was so much pain” – older sister. Two years ago, Abed had the courage to come forward and let her parents know that she was being bullied. Her parents did what every parent would do, they went to the school to seek support for Abeg and assumed the bullying would stop.
It did not.
The school failed Abeg. CSSD failed Abeg.

I’m not sure of all what happened but whatever happened resulted in a dead child.
I’m reciting a story I heard a few years ago of a couple telling how they prevented this very same thing from happening to their child. They said every time their child came home upset about being bullied they went and kicked the butts of the parents of the children who were bullying their child. Those parents got tired of getting their behind kicked so they made their little bullies behave.
I wouldn’t call it ethnic nor reason but their solution worked. A parent will do anything to save their child.
They took drastic measures because some school systems doesn’t seem to care what happens as long as everyone get paid.
No child should be so afraid to go to school she would rather kill herself than go to school.
We adults need to face the face that some children are diabolic. Where did they learn it from? Home and their environment. I guess. We need to face reality and pull off the rose tinted glasses signifying that youth automatically equals innocence when it doesn’t and haven’t for a very long time.
