Saltwater Slavery: A Middle Passage from Africa to American Diaspora Illustrated Edition, Kindle Edition

by Stephanie E. Smallwood

I was introduced to this book but and thought it would be fit well in what’s going on with the African American reparation discussion being held in congress.

Some places aren’t waiting for Congress to act. Californians has set up a committee.

In Likely First, Chicago Suburb Of Evanston Approves Reparations For Black Residents.

North Carolina City Approves Reparations for Black Residents

The measure passed by the City Council of Asheville, N.C., would provide funding to promote homeownership and business opportunities, but stopped short of stipulating direct payments.

It is at least being discussed and something is being done.

About unholypursuit

A. White, an award winning former librarian, who is also a long time member of Romantic Time and Publisher's Weekly. A. White has been writing for over fifteen years. She took classes in creative writing in college, specializing in ancient myths and legends. and later at a local community center while living in Chicago. In college she won the national contest to verbally list every country in the world, it's capital and ingenious language. Her works are mainly horror, fantasy, extreme, and sci-fi as well as, as some may says, "the truly strange predicament and puzzling." Books that I've written are "Clash with the Immortals, and eleven others which are part of the "Unholy Pursuit saga,". She has been working on the Chronicles since 2007. She wished to complete them all before introducing them to public so the readers wouldn't have to for the continuation to be written. The ideas of the book come from classic literature such as whose work greatly influence the world world such as Homer, Sophocles, Herodotus, Euripides, Socrates, Hippocrates, Aristophanes, Plato, Aristotle and many more. The "Book of Enoch" influenced the usage of Azazael as a main character and love interest. I created the primary main character from the Chronicle of Saints. I wanted to show them as real flesh and blood with thoughts, desires and yearning as any human. Not as they are so often depicted. So I created one of my own to show her as a real human that everyone can relate to.

It is wonderful that some people are trying to make amends rather than keep kicking the can of inequality down the street as society has been for the last 156 years, although, everyone see by now, that the condition of black lives aren’t going to get better without it.

    • Yes, it is good some states and towns are acting on their own. But there need to be a German-style restitution set up. All who benefited from slave labor and slavery could be made compensate those whose free labor and sold bodies made them rich.

Some people decry that the slaves themselves are no longer alive. That’s true, but the system they lived under is very much still alive and still discriminating against and killing their descendants. African Americans who lived in partial freedom for the last 158 years were never allowed to accumulate any real wealth to pass down to their children. Monetary wise, most African Americans aren’t too much better off than their slave ancestors were.

The slave no longer being alive argument has no foundation other than racism. Most of the people German paid were not holocaust victims, but their families. As you know of the victims didn’t survive.

If people would get over their ignorance, backwater racist attitude, then they could easily see that this is a gold mine for the rest of the country. Restitution would boost the US economy like never before. Imagine all the trillions of dollars flooding the economy. Money being spent on houses, cars, and investments. It would help every one. Yes, even white Americans.

I mean, think about it! Think of all the luxury houses and home to be bought. All the cars to be bought; money spent on improved healthcare. All the luxury items to be bought. Imagine nearing 50 million people spending hundreds of thousands of dollars at once!

I’ve heard some say Black Americans will take the money and create luxuriant black communities and only allow Native Americans and brown people to move in. Maybe, but the newly, nouveau wealthy people will need materials to build these communities with. They will need carpenters and etc. It’s money to be had by everyone if you look at it from a universal point of view.

I don’t believe African Americans will be as stingy and selfish with their wealth as white Americans have been and still is. I believe this charitable giving nature would lift the poor of the nation out of poverty. Bring the nation to a better level for the advancement of all citizens, not a selective few.
