I believe I met an angel or saint

About five years ago after a loved one’s death I believe I met an angel. I’m not sure but what else could she have been. There was no halo, wings nor illuminating light to tell me what she was.

Angel bursting on the scene

Shortly after a pet incident I decided to move north. My kids and I had been traveling all day. We were all very tired, so I stopped at a rest stop to eat and rest for a little while. I got the car out to go the restroom and when I came out a woman was standing near the exit door smiling kindly at me. I looked behind myself to see who was she smiling at because I was certain it shouldn’t had been me.

I walked toward the glass door, but became very leery when she called me by my name. The fact she knew my name scared me a little. I had never seen her before in my life. So I wondered how did she know my name?  I tried to side step her and continue my way, but she called my name a second time and that really freaked me out.

No, this is not a fictional story, this actually happened.

We had traveled a very long way and was about to enter a deeper part of the Midwestern section of the country. We had already ran into some minor snow storms as we headed East but I plowed right through them.

As I tried to push the door open she grabbed my arm and told me to please get a room and wait the storm out. I had no money for that. Gas prices were stellar back then. So I thanked her for the advice and stepped around her and went back to my car and locked the door. It was late at night, it was freezing, we were right outside of Detroit, Michigan so anyone ever spend time in Michigan in the winter knows how cold it can get.

I watched her for a few minutes. I didn’t see any other car in the parking lot near the building so I assumed she arrived in one of the 18 wheelers parked behind us. After a while I stopped looking at her standing outside the building in the frigid weather watching us, for I didn’t want her to come to the car. I didn’t take my eyes off her but a few minutes later she was right outside my window lightly tapping on the glass, I pressed the button and slid the window down a peek, she asked may she ride with us? I concluded I must had drifted off to sleep and missed her approaching the car.

I told her I don’t pick up strangers. She said OK, I let the window back up, but she patiently stood outside my door and refused to leave me alone. I was too tired to pull off and seek another spot or rest stop, plus, I had no idea where the nearest rest stop was.

Usually intuition goes off when someone is that close to my car so late in the night, but oddly, I felt safe around her. Seeing that she wasn’t going to leave I told her to get in before she freeze to death out there. I unlocked the car and let her in the back seat. Snow flakes started getting thicker. She recommended we go to a hotel up the road a bit. I told her to get out, she begged to please me to do as she say. Vowing she meant us no harm. This behavior was so out of my character that I didn’t know what to make of it. I followed her suggestion.

She was right there was a nice place right down the road. She paid for the room and ordered food. What delivery place she found at that hour? I don’t know. I was not familiar with the area. Her generosity unnerved me so finally, I had to ask her what did she really want? How did she get to the stop at 1:00 A.M.? She said she walked to the rest stop and she didn’t want anything.  All she wanted was us to be safe.

The storm lasted three days. A white out blizzard buried the area. So she was right. A storm was coming.

A major ice and snow storm hit the area. Many people were stranded and several accidents happened on the same road we were traveling. So, I’m glad she did warn me about that.

To make a long story short she rode all the way from Michigan to New York with us. When we entered Pennsylvania she said she wanted me to meet someone. I thinks to myself. “So now, the real reason you’re helping me is finally coming out.”
But having no money I had no choice but go where she directed me. We arrived at a woman’s house who was equally as kind as her. The woman whose house she took us to later became one of  my best friends. She invited us in with no questions asked. She kindly thanked the rest stop woman for bringing us to her. The rest stop woman who said her name was Sarah, replied. “No problem.” As we removed our coats and heavy outerwear Sarah disappeared, she was there one moment and gone the next. The door didn’t open, so how did she leave? How did she get out of the house?

I asked our hostess why were they being so nice to me and my kids? She replied because God told them to be nice. I will call my hostess Marlene. I asked her where did Sarah go? She said, “Back to the highway. Sarah is an angel.” I was speechless. I can’t say I don’t believe in them but never gave it much thought.

Well, as you can guess I was completely floored. I thought they both were crazy. I spend the next three days trying to find this “Sarah”. I searched the internet for stories like mine near that area, but found none. I called the hotel we spent three days in and they swore no one was in that room during the blizzard. I told them yes there were someone in the room. We were in the room. The woman I described checking us in according to them there was no desk clerk meeting her description. That no one meeting my description of Sarah checked in that room. I described my car. They said yes, they saw it, but they thought I was a guest of one of their customers.

We lived with Marlene for two years and I see her every other day now. But she still sticks to her account that Sarah was an angel, I know Marlene is a saint. Who else would take in total strangers and treat them like family. So if saints are real I guess angels are too.

This isn’t the end of this story, I wasn’t aware my engine block had frozen and bust along with many other problems. The next day after we arrived at Marlene’s my car wouldn’t start so I took it to a mechanic, a friend of hers. She said he would fix it for free. But when he looked at it he told me there was no way this car should’ve traveled over 3,000 miles. I told him it did.

You don’t have anything needed to make a car go forward.

His diagnosis unnerved me. I told him I wanted a second opinion. He wasn’t offended, he towed the car to another garage. I was given the same diagnosis. But lo and behold, the three got together and got me a newer car.

So as I’ve known evil people and I mean people who are pure evil. But there are still a lot of good people left in the world. These people encourages and supports me in my writings. They don’t know rich people, they don’t have degrees to accredit their common sense knowledge. But what they do have is the love of God in their hearts. Marlene always tell me to write in truth; don’t sugar coat things. That the bible is really quite scary if you truly look at it for what God is really saying and don’t omit the parts you don’t want to hear.
So I’m leaving it up to the readers to decide what Sarah really was. I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything religious or rather or not angels are real. I’m merely telling what I encountered.

No, I don’t recommend picking up strangers. This was so very out of character for me. Years, later, I went back. I had to go back to this place to make sure it was real. It existed, and was not easy to find if you are not from the area, but I’m positive we waited out a storm there.

  1. Amazing account of being with an angel.

    • Yes, that was an amazing five days. :). I thought they would look more celestial or something. 😇. I think more people have encounter them than willingly talk about it or admit it.

      • I think many may fear being ridiculed or not believed, but yes, I do believe that more encounter them than we will ever know.

        • Yes, I, too believe that the fear being ridiculed or not believed accounts for many not talking out it. It’s far more acceptable to talk of a ghost encounter than an angel encounter. I guess we will never know for sure how common these encounters might be.

          • Shalom 💥 Angel 😇 comes in many forms. Some have wings, most have a smile 😁 If you see a feather be blessed. Your Angel is watching over you to keep you safe. God works in many unexpected ways. Look and listen, be silent. Sufferance is a gift Shalom 💫💥😔

            • Thanks for reminding me that all angels do not have wings. I guest I was expecting the wings to verify they were an angel. 😇 Yes, I have heard it said that Sufferance is a gift. Thanks again for reminding me to listen for them. 🙂

My family had a similar experience years ago in New Mexico. We were moving from California to Indiana. We got caught in a snowstorm in New Mexico. A voice came over our CB radio that our trailer lights were flickering off and on. The voice told my husband we should get off the road. To my surprise, he listened to the advice. We got a room for the night. In the morning, we checked the trailer but couldn’t find an issue. We weren’t on the road for five minutes when we felt a dramatic pull to the right. The spindle that holds the tire on broke. If we’d traveled that road in the dark, we would have been pulled down a steep embankment. I’ve always believed the voice on the radio was an angel warning us we were in danger.

First of all, whomever you had lost. I am so sorry for you loss. That was an awful lot to talk on in the middle of grief. But you were blessed. God pulled you through it. 🙏
Sometimes when we need help God will sends His one of his angels to help us.
Apparently, things were sorrowful in your life at the time and you needed comfort and help. That’s why the angel took you to a saint o receive the ongoing care you needed. God sent the help you needed at the time.

Remember, I told you there was something mysterious about you in a very good way. 😃

    • Thank you.
Yes, I do believe good people and angels are placed in front of us when we need them. Had we continued down the road as planned, I believe we would have gotten caught up in a major multi-vehicle accident right outside Chicago involving several cars. There was a whiteout for a whole day.

Or the second scenario: We would have been stranded at the rest-stop.

To be honest, Celeste, I have been through some things I know it was Someone greater than myself holding me up and taking the situation in the way They wanted it to go. Someone else was in control.

I know this sounds far-stretched to loony to the secular world and even to some who say they know God. It’s typical of people who never needed God to be skeptical of these accounts. But for people who have experienced them they live knowing there more than the physical world.

        • You are right, people who never had to call upon some power greater than themselves are skeptical of anything spiritual. That tells me they have never suffered before a day in your life. Had they. They wouldn’t be particular as to where your help comes from.

Actually, Celeste, I am not the kind of person who worries about what other people thinks. Had I been….I would be a withering pools of tears by now. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Some people will believe you while others will not. That’s just how the world is.

Actually, the car the angels pulled I eventually got it back to running and gave it to my kids. I figured if it was protected by angels then I wanted them driving it. 🙂

This is amazing! Truly amazing! I have heard of things like what happened your car happening when people desperately needed it, but never encounter any one it happened to.

There was a dangerous reason you all had to get out of where ever you were traveling from and horse like angels were pulling that car. Let me guess? You rarely had to stop for gas?

    Liked by 2 people

    • How did you know about the not stopping for gas? You are right, we only stopped for gas once in the whole 3,000 miles trip. There was so much wrong with my car that it’s little wonder it made it to Michigan all the way from California.

      • Celeste says:

I knew you didn’t have to stop for gas because your car had not running for a quite some time. The last time you stopped for gas was the real last time your car was actually running. I don’t know why you all were not safe where you were, but it appears that you had to get out of there.

I figure it out when you all made it to where you needed to be with out the car operating. Had those angels pulling the car revealed themselves more likely they would have looked somewhat like those horses pulling Elijah’s chariot looked.

Just like the dark forces can work through machinery so can angels and Heaven and do it a lot better.

The angel named Sarah hadn’t just joined you all in Michigan. She had just revealed herself, but she was with you all all along. All the way. She just revealed herself to make you listen.

Hey, Sarah is the name of one of the female archangels.

        • Thanks for the information. I didn’t know that Sarah is the name of one of the female archangels.
Let’s just say when it rained; it poured as to why we left California.
Maybe it was best I didn’t see them pulling the car if they were fiery like Elijah’s angels. 🙂 😀

How did it feel being around this person for five day?

    Liked by 2 people

    • Brendan, at first, I didn’t feel much of anything other than concerned for our well-being and safety. After seeing she was harmless. I didn’t really think about her as being any one other than a person, a human being, until the woman named Marlene told me otherwise. Yes, I was skeptical of her at first and didn’t go to sleep on her. LOL! I mean she was a stranger. Yes, I was stunned, completely flabbergasted, when I was told what she was. No, I didn’t believe it at first but after I thought about it; there were a lot of things about her that didn’t fit into being human. Like I said, there appeared to be nothing supernatural about her.

I think the fact that she knew your name was kind of creepy. That’s the kind of stuff horror movies are made of.
I don’t mean creepy in a bad way but you have to admit that was odd. I think it would freak anyone if a stranger call their name at an isolated rest stop at 1:00 a.m. Call your name not once, but twice to be sure you know they are talking to you.

I think the way she was able to move without being noticing was a clue she was unusual. That, and plus paying lodging for three days. Normal people do not help strangers no matter what’s happening. And certainly aren’t footing any bills. That’s why charity organizations exist. If there were more Good Samaritans there would be no need for them.

I don’t think she was going to let you leave had you tried.

I agree with Celeste, I don’t know what was going on in your life at the time but someone (s) meant you all great harm as to why that many angels showed up to get you all out of harm’s way. Most people are lucky if they get one angel to knowingly do something for them in their lifetime.

I suspect these angelic meetings are regular encounters for you. The reason I say so is that you weren’t terrified of her. 🤫 I won’t tell. 🙂

        • Thanks you Saks for your comment.

No, the encounter was not creepy to me. She wasn’t imposing or threatening. She was more persistent than threatening. Very cheerful and I don’t mean the deranged kind of cheerful and lightsome. I was more curious than afraid. Curious as to who was she and why was she helping me? Like you said, “paying for lodging for three days. Normal people do not help strangers no matter what’s happening. And certainly aren’t footing any bills. That’s why charity organizations exist. If there were more Good Samaritans there would be no need for them.” We chatted like old friends as we all waited the storm out. I did asked her how did she know my name? She never fully answered that question. All she said was I would learn that someday.

As for your other conclusions—I am using your own emoji 🤫. 🙂
