I just remembered today is Summer Solstice, this book was written about it in a way that some people see it.
The Novel: UnHoly Pursuit: Devil on my Trail
I thought about this story Saturday when I realized it was Summer Solstice. I started this book, “Butchers of The Summer Solstice” during my college years after seeing so many older stories where the main Protagonist had no name. I sat down several weekends to write it thinking, “How hard can that be?” But I tell you. This is harder to do than it seems. It’s a Gothic story set in the late 1890’s. Back then, mail wasn’t called mail it was called ‘postage’ and this woman received a letter in the postage saying her father was gravely ill and she must come at once. A paragraph from The Butcher Solstice.
The closer we got I saw it was old gray like an old person. The grass around it was browning and dead. The lower window facing the road looked out at us like a one-eyed creature. I noted the top window seemed to have a little orangish sunlight shining in it. I assumed there must be a window on the west side facing the setting sun.

Meeting “unusual people” on the way, sounds like horror! On the other hand it sounds interesting.

Thanks for your interest. 🙂 I would say it’s a horror story. It’s set in the late 19th-early part of the 20th century when most people were still living on farms.
