What began as a book evolved into a movement. Together, we can be the change agents of poetry.
Poetry, the composition of abbreviated stories, embodies an inherent magnetic power to create a common ground of conversations and connectedness that can bridge polarization. We Are Poetry: Lessons I Didn’t Learn in a Textbookis filled with many surprises you would not ordinarily find in a collection of poetry. This book contains several components that serve as an academic complement giving creative insight to the poetry revolutionary movement. It functions as a dialogue engineer, designed to build and employ the application of poetry in the fight against illiteracy, functional illiteracy, a literacy, and disparity. The storyline in this book works as a tool to teach and enlighten.

- How this book serves as a disrupter in the conventional order of poetry by promoting diverse cultures in a world that exposes the royal tapestry of poetry.
The subjects in this book are simple to understand, creatively descriptive, emotionally engaging, and easy for readers to connect with. Kym Gordon Moore begins with her chapters of personal observations relevant to her poetry experience. While many critics theorize that poetry is on the verge of flat-lining, Kym believes poetry advocates are witnessing an incredible revival of the genre through a growing, diverse, and new generation of poetry enthusiasts.
Oh my goodness Alma, thank you, thank you, thank you so much for this generous post of my book. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Girl, I was not expecting this at all! What a wonderful blessing to embrace on this day. I wrote a post for Thankful Thursday Thoughts about gratitude. I had no idea you would bless me with this gift. I am truly humbled Alma my friend! 🤗💖😘

I love the author’s way of explaining what poetry is. This within itself was poetic. I never read it written that we are poetry. I guess I’m.

I am so very grateful and blessed to have my friend Alma White share the summation for my book “We Are Poetry: Lessons I Didn’t Learn in a Textbook” on her blog. To take the time and use the space on her blog on my behalf, especially space that could be used to share other news of interest, is extremely humbling for me. Please explore her site and being a former librarian, that’s right up the alley of my mission. Once again, thank you so much Alma for your generosity! 🤗🙏🏼😊

Kym, I am a fan of your books. I was an honor to list it. I think many people could learn about things that aren’t taught in text books. Life lessons are a treasure to all wise enough to know and accept a gift when it’s given to them. Life lessons are like roads cut and paved, making a way before us. They are the lessons of people who traveled before. They’re us delivering wisdom. It would be very difficult if no one gave life lesson, for then we would all have to learn things solely by trial and error. And all who have lived and learned, know that trials and errors can be defeating.
You know, I’ve done many things since the librarian position, but it was one of the most rewarding positions I ever worked. The vast knowledge there is mindboggling. The internet doesn’t contain half of what’s inside the physical library. I learnt more in the library than the classroom. 🙂

Oh my sweet friend, you have left me absolutely speechless. 🤗 You know, textbooks take us to a certain point, like on the shore of an ocean. But when we dive into that water, we discover a world that we have never known before.
Alma, I truly appreciate your service as a librarian. Had it not been for the public library growing up, we would not have been introduced to so many worlds we never thought possible. I am truly grateful for your support and insight. You have no idea how much this means to me my friend. I appreciate you. Here’s to great things my dear friend. 🥰🦋🌞

You’re so right, we can only learn so much from books. The rest comes from life. Life itself is the greatest teacher.

Well, I have my Mom to blame for being a superabundant reader. With my Mom being a teacher and all, I wasn’t allowed to read kiddo books growing up. I had to read adult books like the Greek Tragedy. I too, am glad to be in good company. 🙂

WHOA, your mom didn’t play huh? Girl, neither did mine. Now my sister was the copious reader in our family. Growing up I was a Tom-Boy interested in art. Talk about an interesting twist in life! LOL 😂😜🤣

No, she didn’t play. 🙂 I can sense the same about yours. 🙂
Growing up I was a Tom-Boy one hour and a girly girl the next. Regardless of my tom-boyish moods or hickey fits, I had to stop and read or you didn’t get watch your cartoons. 🥰

Girl, I tried to make sure I skirted those behind whippin’s. All I needed was one…well two times. One from my father (belt) and one from my mother (a long ass switch). I rest my case! LOL 😂😝🤣

I never got one from my father. He had such a deep bass voice all he had to do was speak, and tell me to behave.

Yap, it froze me in my tracks every time I was enroute to whatever mischief my little mind was conjuring. My siblings said Dad sounded more like James Earl Jones or the Voice of God in the Ten Commandments. 🙂 It had the same effect on them.
