Serafina and the Black CloakNovel by Robert Beatty

The other day was my first time seeing a catamount in my back yard. I used to see them quite regular when I lived in the Midwest.

[I just read something saying they are extinct. If so what was that big cat in my back yard? Maybe it was a mountain lion]

Anyway it was a big cat like those I used to see in the Midwest. I have been up in the Catskill Mountains with a friend who just had to show them to me and you can see them. I supposed whoever said they were extinct haven’t really been looking for the big cat. They don’t get close to humans. They are very beautiful animals.

Mountain lion or Catamount. I didn’t ask it which were he or she?

Mountain lion or Catamount. I didn’t ask it which were he or she? I thought of this book I read some time ago when I saw it.

No, it was not threatening nor bothering anyone. I think it was looking for food.

A. White, an award winning former librarian, who is also a long time member of Romantic Time and Publisher's Weekly. A. White has been writing for over fifteen years. She took classes in creative writing in college, specializing in ancient myths and legends. and later at a local community center while living in Chicago. In college she won the national contest to verbally list every country in the world, it's capital and ingenious language. Her works are mainly horror, fantasy, extreme, and sci-fi as well as, as some may says, "the truly strange predicament and puzzling." Books that I've written are "Clash with the Immortals, and eleven others which are part of the "Unholy Pursuit saga,". She has been working on the Chronicles since 2007. She wished to complete them all before introducing them to public so the readers wouldn't have to for the continuation to be written. The ideas of the book come from classic literature such as whose work greatly influence the world world such as Homer, Sophocles, Herodotus, Euripides, Socrates, Hippocrates, Aristophanes, Plato, Aristotle and many more. The "Book of Enoch" influenced the usage of Azazael as a main character and love interest. I created the primary main character from the Chronicle of Saints. I wanted to show them as real flesh and blood with thoughts, desires and yearning as any human. Not as they are so often depicted. So I created one of my own to show her as a real human that everyone can relate to.

I saw a cat like this in my trash can. I too thought it was a catamount. Like you said they don’t bother you if you don’t bother them. It is a very beautiful creature.

That is another thing I hate about the early settlers, they had to kill off every damn thing they could aim a gun at. Why couldn’t they just left things alone. These animals had lived here thousands of years before they arrived. All they could think of was to kill every thing that moved. I used to think those dukes and lords were mean punishing people for hunting on their estates without their permission but I see now they were cruel. People on their estates would’ve killed everything that moved just as they did in the Americas, Africa and other parts of the world.

    • Yes Melina, I wonder why some people simply loves to kill? They aren’t happy if they aren’t killing or harming something. People should pay that attention because it has been proven that people who love to kill animals may graduate into killing humans.

Perhaps they would have killed off the wild life on the estates if the nobility had not had such strict penalty for hunting at will.

  2. I congratulate you on that encounter, to see wild animals roaming free does still rouse our instincts.
